Top 5 Hair Color Trends

With spring comes a perfect time of year for a color refresh—a time of year when many of us move from darker to lighter hues. This spring, the color trends are far from one-size-fits-all. We’ve rounded up five of our favorites so you can find the color technique that will make your hair shine and create a look that is totally unique to you.

number 1

Balyage highlights are huge this year, filling the runways and red carpets. And they’re popular for a reason. This techniques allows for a more natural-looking color, offering a softer highlight effect to any length and hair type.

number 2

Bronde is the combination of making a brunette into a blonde but with very rich and golden tones to accent rather than overwhelm hair. Bonus: This can be done with red tones as well.

number 3

Say goodbye to those crazy two-tone ombres and hello to a much softer look: Sombre (AKA "subtle ombre"). Sombre offers more of a gradual color fade rather than the “it's been growing out for 6 months” look.

number 4

Color Melting

This very on-trend look is a blending of different colors to create a soft transition to the next color. Whether you want to be a red, brunette, blonde, or a fashion color, everything is melted together to create dimension.

number 5

Blurring is probably one of our favorite trends and is catching on like wildfire. Those of us who grew up in the '80s and '90s remember those big blonde panels, right? Now, with blurring, we can have a more subtle version of this piece-y look. As its name suggests, strands are blurred with a darker color to blend out the regrowth area, offering a pop of color without the regular maintenance.
